Bio

Carole Goble is a Professor in the School of Computer Science. She co-leads the Information Management Group there, and is the founding chair of the pan-university
Open Middleware Infrastructure Institute-UK. She has a leading role in the Semantic Web, e-Science and the Semantic Grid, applying technical advances in knowledge technologies and workflow systems to solve information management problems for Life Scientists and other scientific disciplines. She is the director of the UK e-Science ^my Grid project which produced the popular Taverna workflow environment for Life Scientists. She recently launched the myExperiment initiative - a social networking site and publishing gateway for workflow developers and users. She is the co-chair of the Open Grid Forum Semantic Grid Research Group, and the Technical Director of the EU OntoGrid project, which has developed S-OGSA, the first reference architecture for the Semantic Grid.
